Step By Step Guide: How To Backup & Restore Drivers?

• Step 1: Open the command prompt as an administrator. To do this, use the Windows search and enter ” Command Prompt. ” Then click on “Run as administrator. ” Confirm that you are Admin.
• Step 2: First, create the ” driver backup ” folder in the C drive, where the backup will be saved. You can, of course, also name the folder individually. Then enter the command DISM / online / export-driver / destination: C: \ driver backup and press [Enter] .
• Step 3: Check whether all the driver backups that have been created are located in the ” C: / driver backup ” folder.

How to restore the backed up drivers

Windows usually recognize new drivers automatically and install them. If a faulty driver update has been installed, you can use this method to restore the previously saved drivers. Follow our step-by-step instructions or take a look at the quick start guide.

• Step 1: Open the device manager via Windows search.
• Step 2: Find the device for which you want to install a driver. Make a right-click on it and select ” Update Driver ” from. If the device is not recognized, it is marked as an unknown device. We choose the SSD in the example.
• Step 3: Click the second option, ” Browse my computer for drivers. “
• Step 4: Under ” Search for drivers in this location, ” select the previously specified storage location for the backup. Also, activate ” Include subfolders. ” Then click on ” Next. ” Windows searches for appropriate backups and installs the drivers.

Brief instructions: Back up the driver

1. Open the command prompt with admin rights. To do this, enter ” cmd ” in the Windows search and open the command prompt as Admin.
2. Create the driver backup folder in the C drive.
3. Then enter the command DISM / online / export-driver / destination: C: \ driverbackup in the command prompt and press [Enter] .
4. Finally, check whether the backup was successfully created under ” C: / driver backup.”
