If your smartphone no longer charges, this does not necessarily have to be due to a defective battery.
When the smartphone no longer charges, panic quickly spreads. But the solution to the problem is often much more straightforward than expected. So before you take your phone to a repair service, try our tips first.
In some cases, there may be a bug in the operating system that is causing the problem. So switch off your smartphone and wait a moment. Then turn it back on and try charging again.
Faulty charging cables can, of course, also lead to charging problems. While the primary adapter on the charger is pretty sturdy, the cables are often fragile. So, organize another cable to see if the problem is with your charging cable.
In some cases, the protective cover prevents the cable from being fully inserted into the charging port. So check the connection and also check whether the case is not sitting correctly or is covering the charging socket.
Another common problem is a dirty charging port. Even a lint from your jeans pocket, or just some dirt or dust that has built up over time, can cause charging issues.
A simple blast of air into the charging socket, for example, can solve the problem when you blow in briefly. If not, carefully insert a toothpick or used toothbrush into the port to clean it.
Apps may be open that are consuming your smartphone’s Storm while it is charging. Using the smartphone while charging can also result in more power being consumed than the battery can supply.
So close all apps while the device is charging and do not use it while it is charging. Check regularly whether the charging process is continuing at all.
Several background services will continue to run while charging – even if you’ve closed all apps beforehand. Nevertheless, Bluetooth, location and Wi-Fi services often consume a lot of power.
To see if this won’t charge your smartphone, turn the device off entirely or turn on airplane mode. Airplane mode prevents most of these services from working, so you’ll know if it was that pretty quickly.
Both iOS and Android offer regular software updates to improve the user experience and fix performance and security gaps. Suppose your device is having problems charging the battery and an operating system update is available. In that case, you should update the software on the device and see if that solves the problem.
There are other hardware components in your smartphone that can prevent loading. Only a certified professional can help you and find out what is causing the problem. Even if the battery is the culprit and needs to be replaced, you should only go to an expert.
